Sustainable Furniture
NOT JUST A FAD
Sustainable furniture isn’t a trend, but an ethical mindset. In purchasing sustainable furniture, or furniture from a company who actively target carbon neutrality, you’re making a conscious decision to benefit both people’s lives and the environment we live in.
More and more people are opting for a sustainable and eco-friendly way of life. The furniture industry is no different. Many companies have taken steps to reduce waste, introduce eco-friendly policies and create sustainable furniture. To further lower carbon emissions and your impact on the environment, it’s always beneficial to shop locally (as opposed to globally) from a maker that uses durable, sustainable sources. All the timber used in Morii Designs sofas for example is harvested responsibly from well managed forests, such as the Forest Stewardship Council or Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification, that are continuously replenished, ensuring that there is no damage to the surrounding environment, or to native flora and fauna. High quality furniture offers a longer lifespan, benefitting the environment by not adding additional unnecessary waste to landfills.
OUR PLEDGE
Morii Designs is a responsible business, we have made a commitment to promote sustainability, create sustainable furniture, and minimise the environmental impact of our activities. To ensure that we reduce our carbon footprint, we have partnered with Ecologi to create our own forest and created the following pledges:
- We have planted 100 trees to celebrate Earth Day (22nd April), and will continue this yearly.
- We will plant 5 trees every month for each Morii employee. These trees will reduce CO2 by 4.5 tonnes per year, per employee.
- We will plant 10 trees for every product sold on www.moriidesigns.com.
- For every sofa or bespoke item we sell, we will plant 50 trees.
- In addition to this we will periodically plant trees as part of social media campaigns.
- Work with our suppliers to reduce environmental impacts of the products we sell.
- Improve energy efficiency and identify further opportunities to reduce energy use in our facilities.
- Identify opportunities to further improve the sustainability of our packaging and reduce its use.
In addition to the above, we’ve already committed funding to help build a Wind Power project in Mexico, and helped to fund the first ever Wind Farm in Honduras, helping to prevent combined emissions of 471,993 tonnes of CO2 every year!
